No Regrets

“No Regrets”. Ever been told that? Ever been told you should go for something you’re not completely certain about and act without having regrets? It’s obvious why. In life, our biggest regrets are not for the things we did – but, for the things we didn’t do. The things we should have said but didn’t – generally, due to fear. Fear encompasses our being and prevents us from living our lives to the fullest.

Oscar Wilde once wrote “One’s real life is often the life that one does not lead.”  It’s unfortunate really, but its human nature. For we fear the unknown. We become hesitant in taking risks for we may not be happy with the results. Fear is our own worst enemy.

And then there are those who do take chances. Those who leap into the vast unknown and go for it; those are the people saying ‘no regrets’. And while things may not always work out and for a while they may regret their actions, in the end they have no regrets. It’s the shy and cautious people who sit and wonder, never knowing what might have been.

And occasionally, bad experiences in the past prevent us from taking future risks. This should not be the case. Face fear head-on, we can’t live in fear. Life’s about taking risks, not being afraid to go after what you want. And while it may not seem like it’s the right time; the truth is there is never a right time. That’s why it’s called a risk.

So remember, take a risk, speak your mind and don’t let fear keep you down. For ‘if only’ are two of the saddest words in the world.
